Objective of the Game:
The objective of The Skyfall Reflection is to encourage participants to reflect on recent projects or tasks, identify their favorite aspects, share their wishes for improvement, and explore new possibilities. Using visual metaphors such as a parachute, raindrops, and stars, the game fosters creativity and deep reflection in a playful and interactive way for retrospective meetings.

When to Use This Game Play:
This game is perfect for retrospective meetings, project reviews, or team brainstorming sessions. Use it when you want to gather feedback, generate new ideas, or build team cohesion. It’s especially useful for creative or collaborative teams seeking to explore different perspectives.


Game Phases

Phase 1: Setting Up the Visual Chart

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Board: Display the Skyfall Reflection visual facilitation chart. The chart consists of three sections:
  • I LIKE: Represented by a parachute, this section is for positive reflections on the project or task.
  • I WISH: Represented by raindrops from clouds, this section is for things the team wishes to improve.
  • I WONDER: Represented by twinkling stars, this section is for innovative ideas, possibilities, or open questions for retrospective meetings.
  1. Distribute Post-its: Provide each participant with three colored post-its (one color per section).
  • Color 1: for I LIKE
  • Color 2: for I WISH
  • Color 3: for I WONDER

Phase 2: Brainstorming

  • Time Limit: Set a timer for 10-15 minutes to ensure participants have enough time to reflect and write.

Instructions:

  1. Silent Reflection: Participants take time to reflect on the recent project or session. They should consider:
  • I LIKE: What aspects of the project worked well?
  • I WISH: What could be improved or done differently next time?
  • I WONDER: What creative ideas, questions, or new approaches could be explored moving forward?
  1. Post-it Placement: Once participants have written their thoughts on the post-its, they place them on the appropriate areas of the visual chart.

Phase 3: Group Reflection & Dice Roll Discussion

  • Materials: Dice (optional), Timer

Instructions:

  1. Read and Reflect: Give the group 2 minutes to silently review all the post-its on the chart. This ensures everyone has a chance to see each idea.
  2. Dice Roll: Roll the dice to introduce an element of chance. The number rolled dictates how many contributions (post-its) from each section will be discussed in-depth. For example, if a 4 is rolled, select four post-its from the I LIKE section to start.
  3. Discussion: Discuss the selected items one by one. Encourage participants to explain their thoughts in more detail, and open the floor for group input. This gamified element helps ensure variety and fun while diving into meaningful insights.

Phase 4: Voting & Prioritization

  • Materials: Dot stickers for voting

Instructions:

  1. Dot Voting: Each participant receives three dot stickers (one per section) to vote on their top ideas across the I LIKE, I WISH, and I WONDER sections.
  2. Action Planning: Based on the top-voted items, the team then discusses which actions or improvements should be prioritized. Assign owners to each action and set timelines to ensure follow-through.

Phase 5: Wrap-Up & Debrief

Instructions:

  1. Closing Reflection: End the session with a quick debrief where participants share any final thoughts or takeaways from the game. Ask them to reflect on the key learnings and how they plan to apply the insights gathered.
  2. Next Steps: Ensure that any tasks or improvement points are clearly documented and assigned to the right team members. Consider sharing the visual chart with the team post-session as a reminder of the outcomes.
